Reporting from inside Gadhafi’s “Surreal Luxury Prison”

For the past five months, Moammar Gadhafi’s government has been fighting a war against Libyan rebels operating out of three opposition-held enclaves and against an aerial bombing campaign led by NATO.

Even though the U.S., France and Britain are leading the drive to overthrow Gadhafi, his regime has allowed journalists from those countries to report inTripoli.

As CNN’s Ivan Watson reports, these journalists are under strict government control while operating out of Tripoli’s Rixos Hotel, the mandatory residence for most foreign journalists visiting Gadhafi-controlled Libya.

It’s just possible that such coeidsnrations were at the front of their minds, rather than a non-linear analysis of trends in geopolitics over the next 70 years. No Fran it is not off-topic. Brendon's argument is essentially that it is better to have the devil you know, however bad, than what might befall you if you rise up against him. It is the argument for slavery. The slaves must not rise up against their masters because they cannot know who their new masters will be and how bad they will be. It is an argument that any person with an instinct for freedom and for democracy must reject and speak out against It is an article vital to our understanding of the possibilities of what is happening in Libya and of the dangers facing the Libyans..The Libyan people in revolution must take their chances for a revolution is inherently a risky business. They risk their lives against the oppresor they seek to overthrow. They take the risk too that there will be psychopaths and opportunists among them who will exploit their revolution in order to oppress them. And no Fran, it is not non-linear. It is linear. It was the policy of Lenin and without which the dogma of Marx would make no sense. Stalin implemented it and millions died from him implementing Lenin's self-absorbed depraved and psychopathic philosophy.Let us hope that the Libyan people are spared from their own home-grown Islamist fanatics who Brendon fears could be as bad as, but who, realistically, could not be worse than the pyschopath who hijacked the Russian revolution

So, by saying "China's poilcy on Libya has been constant, whether when Gadhafi was in power or after the situation turned into turmoil," Zheng is saying there was no turmoil when Gadhafi was in power.I wonder what the NTC thinks of that.

Did anyone notice the people walking around, looking ragged and poor? The houses look like somewhere in the the poorest of Africa not in one of the richest nations (potentially) in the world. Ladies and Gentlemen I give you Gaddafi's Libya where the oil and gas flows somewhere else and someone else's pocket.

Sorry Ivan but I'm disappointed. I thought you would notice that it's not a civil war! It's a revolution against a tryant and his gang of bloodsuckers. Maybe because you stayed too long at the Rixos and got a bit brainwashed. That family were killed by Grad missiles. We also saw the 85 people including 33 children which no one saw except one untouched child in a morgue with 30 dead soldiers as mentioned by a BBC reporter (eye witness). He also reported that they stank from decomposition. How could this be after just a few hours in a cold morgue? Maybe they were bussed in from somewhere else too.

I'm sure the pro Gadhafi's were bussed in by millions for rally Tripoli 7/1/11,as the locals just love the NATO bombs.
And every time a bomb hits someones house, school, clinic,tv station there is No chance of finding bodies. They must
be bussed in also as we all know bombs don't kill people that would be Wrong! If done repeatedly it challenge credibility of being there 'Only to protect people'! Spin it any way you want! The average person sees through this BS.This will backfire and cause more people to hate us worldwide for our 'great freedom' to continue to murder and destroy lives wherever we go.This is destroying any chance to solve problems diplomatically and/or for our children to have peace in their future.

Why did Gadhafi confine journalists to Rixon Hotel? Answer: Cause they are human shields where he is hiding...rite?..I worry for journalists as takeover proceeds!

After everything that has hapepned people want to be able to put a face to the name and to the actions that they commited, and see that finnally this person cannot continue with tourting people.I think people were so upset by not being able to see Osama because it would just make it seem like it was more real that he was dead. After all these years the general public was lead to believe that he was probably dead anyways, and so after thinking that and hearing of his death people just wanted to see more prof so that it is more solidified in thier mind. I don't see it as grose or anything like that, just people being able to have more mental peace in their mind to see that he is dead rather than just try to believe what someone tells you.

Its sad to see freedom fighters looting the Gadhafi compound....stealing likely museum 'show-piece' weapons from the compound....some even golden.....these are Libyan National Heritage items now lost and to be sold to International collectors for personal gain....is this is only the start of pillaging the Libyan heritage!
