CNN Photographer Joe Duran gives us a look at life in Tehran as citizens vote in parliamentary elections.
seriously though, Iran is a beautiful country and has a vibrant downtown with skyscrapers and beautiful snowy mountains, why do you guys always show the worst of Iran? its sad enough the governments dont get along but you guys should try to display your facts from all angles, keep it balanced!
tony, I agree with you. The images of Iran we are exposed to do not show Iran's thriving modern cities and beautiful culturally significant sites (early human civilization/culture). Showing that Iran is not a 3rd world county would lessen the feeling that the Iranian people are somehow less advanced, that they are not the "other". Perhaps make it more difficult for the warmongers to sell their destructive plans. Iran It is a county of people living, working and raising families, just like in US. I still feel that wars should be fought between leaders of the counties involved (not the citizens); pistols a dawn, swords or hand to hand combat. There would surly be far less fighting and death, and much more talking and compromise.
I have a hard time taking you seriously when they still have people voting with an x and putting blue ink on finger to show they've voted. This was once a proud civilization, but at present is a third world country
this is CNN< are you for real?
CNN is a part of American war Mongol. you are looking for balance news. go to realnews.com I found their perspective is more informative and unbiased
Then quit trying to build nukes, d-bag idiots
I agree. I lived in Iran for 11 years and it is THE most beautiful country but obviously CNN must show the worst sides of it.
you have to realize that, the iranian Government is the one tells CNN where to go and what to take picture of. If they take them to the South of Tehran (OLD Tehran) this is what you will see. Now if they let him take pictures of Tajrish and north of Tehran you would have different Pictures. The Government does not want others to see those people. Because the Girls are not covererd as much and guys are dressed more western and Iran does not want to show that. They want to show the world a country full of conservatives who doesnt listen to west at all.
I don't believe anyone has questioned the beauty of Irans country. Nor do they believe that all of the people from Iran are terrorists. But Irans government and the followers of the government are paranoid and these are people you can't trust. They say one thing and do something completely different. They can not be trusted and everyone knows that.
It would be nice if CNN had more of a caption than "CNN got permission" blah, blah – on every photo. Life of all cultures is interesting – something could be said about each photo.
How old are some girls to vote
You can cast your vote at age 14
No the voting age is 18 in Iran... learn to google
no way some of those girls are 12 – much less 18. Looks like they employ some of the same techniques as the democrats to steal elections?
I guess the political slur about democrats is necessary for the continuing division in this country, what a shame! The recession that we are currently pulling out of started in early in 2007 under Greorge Bush's administration and the financial crisis in late summer of 08 still under PRESIDENT BUSH'S administration. I voted for George Bush, but lets be fair with our comments. This time President Obama will get my vote because he has earned it under the most trying times in recent memory.
YEAH ... IT'S BUSHES FAULT!
No Tommy get the facts. It started with the newly elected Democratic congress and Mr Barney Frank lifting the housing regulations that put us in to this mess today
They should be the girls who came with their parents to polling centers. People can not vote unless they are 18 and above in Iran. Children sometimes cast their parents' ballots (written by their parents) because of its enjoyment.
no way some of those girls are 12 – much less 18. Looks like they employ some of the same techniques as the REPUBLICANS to steal elections?
We can clearly see that people of all ages are voting. The ones who have no choice of agreeing with this regime are told to bring their children to vote for them. No wonder they can claim victory all the time. Very sad.
I love the picture of our drone on the top left 😛
Of picture 10
That is a symbol for the quaran, far from a drone.!!!
That IS what Iran claimed to be a downed US drone..

I like your lyrics and your blog Now days ppoele dont expected such deep thought and good poetry from bollywood filmwalas. But you make hindi song more meaningful and such a melodious words. Thanks,
it would appear that some seriuos market clearing has finally begun. Well there's a pile of assumptions gathered into a convenient conclusion. How do you square this with the data I posted a week or so back that bad loans are turning into foreclosures much faster than foreclosures are being sold, a double backing up in the system? All the current data trends suggest is that cheaper homes are selling- perhaps because now there are some to chose from, or because some of them may actually cash flow as rentals with enough down. Or maybe because folks can get 3% down loans- which puts them in a position to walk without a big loss if everything goes to h#ll.Or perhaps it's all just more confirmation of the age-old adage that there's a fool born every minute. Or that the video generation has an attention span of 45 seconds and the patience to match.
It has been a pleasure to work with evneoyre at the Saatchi booth. Thank you all for making the opportunity to show my work such an exciting experience. And especially thank you to Rebecca, what a likeable soul and a delight to meet you Bruce.
Yes that is a picture of the captured U.S. drone. Yes Iran did capture a secret U.S. stealth drone that the U.S. government announced missing; Obama even asked the Iranian government to return the drone. Iran revealed the drone on national television in order to boost national moral and rub the defeat in the face of the U.S.
More articles on that..
You dont know what your talking about that isnt a drone!
yes..that is the drone. don't be ignorant.
everything I wanted to voice also! There is a lot of boallt stuffing going on, and it is quite obvious how it is done. Not much different from the old showdown where IP switching programs and dial-ups were skewing the votes. I had written and inquired about how I could drop from 12th spot to 155th literally within the blink of an eye (the time it took to post one message and refresh my page) on the 15th of March and I was made aware of by several others who experienced the same at that time but my question to Saatchi Help line was ignored! I would venture to guess that the brackets are hidden so you can't see the ridiculous jumps in numbers that are way out of the ordinary voting patterns.
They, like us, will pay for their apathy and their unwillingness to bring corrupt men down from power in their country. This is the way of things unfortunately.
They, unlike us, tried to topple their government and got slaughtered in the streets for making the attempt.
why is it only the women cover up have you ever seen arab men with there wives, a tall good looking blonde walks by them and there mouths druel, thinking all kinds of thoughts but yet let the women look and she is stone to death. WHAT A STUPID RELIGION
Many religions, including Christianity, have been manipulated by men for power. Islam is no different. Don't hate the religion. Hate the corruption.
Is that druel or drool?
@Lopez Dont go around insulting other religions and beliefs, you dont like it, keep it to your self, and please get some education, Iranians are not Arabs, they dont speak arabic, or write it, They are Persians and they speak and write farsi, so do me a favor and go back to cutting my grass please.
Hey Sami, thanks for putting those terds in their place. Now you can go back to sucking my big toe and taking your nightly beating..
Yes, all those that comment and have no idea about our culture or lifesyle educate yourself and read a book. WE are not ARABS, DONT SPEAK ARABIC, WE ARE IRANIANS (PERSIANS) AND SPEAK FARSI!
By :How can regular sales' piecrs pick up without distressed sales? i.e., I'm assuming qualified buyers are like dinosaurs today and getting them past mortgage approvals is like pulling teeth, even with lower piecrs Financing isn't as tough as what you would be lead to believe from reading newspaper articles.
haha don't make a mistake, this CNN team just got permission to capture a very specific demographic in a very specific neighborhood, probably lower income areas. If you want to see the real review of Life in Tehran this will give you a better & more accurate perspective:
I lived there for more than half my life before moving over to the US so I have experienced it first hand...
wonderful video!thank you for sharing this.
IGNORANCE, the Iranians are Persians, not Arabs, yes there is a difference.
Dear Krishnaji,Thank you very much for sending brief news about Ghandruk, it lietarncy has given us pleasure to know what is going on in Ghandruk.I was born and bred in Ghandruk but due to global migration, currently living in the global village in the UK. As such I am always endeavoring to keep myself up to date with the news and views about Ghandruk. The step you have taken is good for those people living abroad. If you would kindly send us such brief notes at least every six months would be great?Thank you so much.Warmest regards
dear my friend research the islam and the other religions: covering up the heads exist in christianity jewism and the other religion but please be american escape the prejudice
16a15c35f6You can certainly see your klsils within the work you write. The world hopes for even more passionate writers like you who aren't afraid to mention how they believe. Always go after your heart. 18d
I like the valuable info you iorvpde in your articles. I will bookmark your blog and check again here regularly. I'm quite sure I will learn many new stuff right here! Best of luck for the next!
First of all they are not Arabs, they are Persians. So get your facts right before making a statement. Second of all, again get your facts right before making a statement about any religion and show some respect. You well never hear an Iranian/Persian saying Christianity is stupid.
It appears you have to wear black in order to vote.
You will see more black fabrics in Iran, because its shiite nation. Black is their symbolic color, they mourn the deaths of Imam hasan and his family for 40 days in a year. But in sunni majority countries, women wear more colorful veils.
well i just hope it a real election and not just a game. Iran needs to switch some ppl in those seats.
what elections? these candidates have already been selected by few unelected killers, then few of them are again selected from them, they are 100% loyal to the tyrants.
I Would Like to know, why privilege a few works more than otrehs ?, example, on the same page on having begun, they are promoted an artist who is between the 128 and a work of another artist who is between the 128, no it looks like to them a mockery ? and an advantage that the remainder of the elected 128 them is not promoted by you of the same way? that is called an advantage.
If women really wanted to dress like that, you'd see it all over America, too, now wouldn't you?
If women really wanted to dress like americans you'd see it all over China, India, ... too wouldn't you ?
Well no, there are cultural differences. People eat different food, listen to different types of music, dress differently, behave differently, ...
Well done Iran. Build your nuclear industry. Progress technologically, economically, and scientifically. May these fat, hamburger eating, diabetic, warmonger, Jew butt kissers choke on their McDonalds.
Yea.. i dont really care for Republicans either
RE: I thought it was faisnnaticg. Especially what a large fraction of distressed is at the low end. Not really surprised that it's a large fraction at the low end it makes sense. First time buyers a few years ago, typically younger, lower income, further down the food chain at work buy their first place probably low down, ARM (after all, how many 30 Y/O first time buyers have 20% down and are disciplined enough to wait until they can take on a 30 fixed?). When the spaghetti hits the fan, they're the last hired and first fired, so all the low end is clobbered especially hard.
I see the pics, where's the story? Is that it?
Repuklicon = joos but kisser
16a14935142You actually make it seem so easy with your peotrntasien but I find this matter to be really something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and extremely broad for me. I'm looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it! 187

Hey CNN....did you notice our "drone" in picture 10????? I wonder what the arabic script written all over it says?
If I can read it correctly, It translates to something like this: capture of the US spy drone was another slap on the face for the enemies of Iran. By the way, it's not Arabic, it's Farsi (Persian).
*** I wonder what the arabic script written all over it says?
Bathroom on the right.
don't make a mistake, this CNN team probably just got permission to capture photos at a very specific demographic in a very specific neighborhood of Tehran, probably lower income. If you want to see the real review of Life in Tehran this will give you a much better & more accurate perspective on what you can expect to encounter on a typical trip to there:
I lived there for more than half my life before moving over to the US so I have experienced this first hand...
The love of my life was a Persian woman. Sholay. Is that a beautiful name or what?
Would it have been asking too much for there to be some sort of descriptions of the pictures? A CNN team got permission, blah, blah, blah! This is an utter waste of time because there is no story with it.
It's funny to see CNN fall for the propaganda tricks of the Iranian regime. The regime wants to pretend like there is a real democracy in Iran, when in reality most of the candidates were banned and the whole elections were rigged so that only the most radical pro-regime candidates can run. Stick some pictures of women in veils smiling, and you complete Khmanei's work. Khamenei thanks CNN for this.
I miss all the beautiful Persian women who used to visit the US.
Stop the entertainment value that you can find in Iran. Now is the time for them to overthrow their government. I am sure Nazi Germany had very nice scenery and picturesque people.
The US is broke. Not just a little broke. I'm taking flat on your back, legs up in the air, seconds before the final twitch.- kinda broke. Are you sure your prepared to borrow more money from china to invade another country only to create another mess like afganistan Iraq? Iran is One country away from Europe.
Great Video, Looks like a nice place.
What a beautiful group of people. How could the Iranian Goverment crush the Green Revolution? They sure don't resemble the religious clericks that call the shots for the masses. Isn't it time to get rid of the power structure in Iran and let the beautiflu Iranian People decide who rules the country?
it is time to get rid of tyrant Regime in Iran, unlike the uneducated tyrants in power in Iran, people of Iran are highly educated and Love USA, and they are not religious at all (most majority of them), President Obama missed a huge chance of helping people of Iran to get rid of the Regime when they started uprising against the killers in Iran almost 3 years ago.
It seems to me that this data also represents an arnegumt against the we're within 10% of the bottom statement as well as the usefulness of the affordability graph from last week. Bank owned homes tend to sell for 20-30% less than equivalent homes through the normal sale process. If bank owned homes are a significant fraction of low-end sales, then they are partly responsible for the numbers apparently indicating affordability. If we're looking for the end of the correction being close to when the market returns to normal, we must be attempting to describe a return to sustainable long-term pricing. This huge overhang of bank-owned properties must be excluded from that model and once you do that, today's buyers are valuing homes well under today's non-bank sellers. If prices overall move somewhat lower, and then prices remain flat while the backlog of bank owned homes is eventually cleared, normal home prices will have to drop still further to meet buyers in the market. So you may not see it on a median price graph, but comps will be continuing to drop while that median price stays flat. And that's when I'll be ready to enter the market.Watch out with signals derived from that median number. Median is somewhat more useful than the average, but it's still a very narrow window to look at something as multivariate as home sale prices.
I think all those of you whom support Iran and are either anti-Israeli or anti-American should move to Tehran, Iran to see what life really is like. I can almost guarantee you 100%, you will regret it for the rest of your entire life. Many of the people of Iran are innocent, but don't let that fool you. There government is run by hard-line, neo-fascist, ruthless clerics and dictators. Life is NOT easy, nor is it pleasant in Iran and many of the people there want change just like you see in Syria now and previously in Egypt and Libya.
I agree with you 100%.
Sounds like you're ready to let the bombs fly oh enlightened one. Anti-Israeli does not mean anti-American, just anti -war to infinity. How 'bout a little diplomacy starting with a nuclear-free mideast negotiations as the NAM has suggested. So much hate... you can't feel good about yourself in your state of permanent war-like anti-goyim paranoia. All you want is to get other nations (most notably America to go fight your war for you so you can remain the tiny insignificant illigetimate-greatest threat to world peace in mankinds living memory.) Last I checked, Iran doesn't have an AIPAC with the American congress, senate etc. etc... bought and paid for. So tell me this....does more money make you right?
Trust the Zionist and pro Zionists, publish the ugliest picture of the ugliest Iranians .... what happened to all the gorgeous Iranian young who are over 70%....where are the knock out girls? Zionism = AIPAC = Israel + Crooked politicians = War = Destruction = Annihilation of our middle class and poor!!! Let's stop financing every citizen in Israel and support our health & education!!
I don't care if it looks like Disneyland. They sponsor terrorists and continuely talk about wiping Israel off of the map. If the majority are peace loving people they should rise up and hang their terrorist leaders or face the consequences.
Dude, CNN! What is the matter with you!? what kind of pictures are those! Do you want me to go to anytown USA poor area and take pictures, post on Internet and say TYPICAL USA?! I know the media in the US is controlled by a small group in order to show a bad image of Iran but common be realistic. Tehran is a modern city and only a minority look like that. Don't misslead the American people!
what good has come from war?is iraq or afganistan a better place today?the united states should be a friend to all and ally to none.
Krishna Sir,Namaskar. This is Narayan Singh Gurung from London. Thank you very very much for your detailed itmnrfaoion about Ghandruk. May we hope to hear from you the same in the days to come as well. Finally please extend my and my family's regards to Dharma Shila madam and children.Bye for now.
Like these peoples votes really matter. Its more of a smoke screen, so the people dont riot like everywhere else in the mid-east. Winning says that bearded freak of pres, I hope he gets assassinated.
What i do not understood is auactlly how you are not auactlly much more well-liked than you may be right now. You are so intelligent. You realize thus significantly on the subject of this matter, made me for my part believe it from numerous varied angles. The $166 million jgedemunt against the Jesuits for abusing N.A. for years on end was never paid by the diocese because they had no money. They just filed for bankruptcy, and closed-up shop. And, the vatican is just sitting on their laurels.
